The subject is nicely in focus and the lighting is good. The details of the fur and whiskers are very nice and give the photo a nice sense of texture. There are no distracting elements in the foreground. The photo itself caputres the gentler side of the wild animal and is a nice contrast to a lot of the big cat shots that intend to show the intensity of the animal.
The only improvement that I can think of would be to crop out the blue corners in the background. They distract the view away from the subject and simply cropping to just above the lions ear will help strengthen the subject and overall composition of the piece.
A very well done full frame lion portrait that can easily be improved by some minor cropping.
