I am so glad you got to visit there! It is remarkable! There is a horseback tour you can take through the garden and it is marevlous!
ah Ingo again you make me homesick.
Hope you had a wonderful time in my Big Sky Country!

We took a guided tour through the Garden, and Big Sky no kidding, very bright and very blue (bad for photography)

Indeed the light is brillant but at that particular latitude it is seems very harsh. I think one of th reasons Ansel Adams remarked on the quality of light in New Mexico is beacause at the latitude where he and Georgia O'Keeffe lived in Abiquiú, NM. The light is at just such an angle that it seems softer. In either location morning and evening are the best times to shoot.

I have visited the outside of the Adams/O'Keeffe residence when I was young because my family used to visit Ghost Ranch, NM [link] it is a religous retreat center, my father was a minister before I was born and we used to go there vacation. Ansel was right the light there is amazing!

Yes, morning and evening, during the "golden hour" are the best time to shoot. Unfortunately that was not when I got to see all these nice places so I had to hope for clouds, which came in rarely,
